Sylvia possesses over two decades of public service experience. Currently, she holds the position of Clerk of the Board for the Coachella Valley Water District, where she manages the Clerk’s office and records division. Her previous roles include serving as city clerk for two municipalities, County Clerk of the Board, and Registrar of Voters. Sylvia has an academic background that includes a Master of Arts in Management and a Master of Public Administration, and she is presently pursuing a Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership. She attained her Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) designation in 2018 and her Master Municipal Clerk (MMC) certification in 2020. Since 2019, Sylvia has been an active member of the fundraising committee, assuming the role of Chair in 2021. She has also served as a mentor since 2019 and was elected as Director of Scholarships in 2022 and reelected in 2024. In her capacity as Director of Scholarships, Sylvia aims to enhance awareness of CMCA’s scholarship opportunities and assist members in obtaining their CMC and MMC certifications. In her free time, Sylvia is dedicated to volunteering. She acts as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for children within the foster care system, serves as a chapter board member and current president of the Southern California Inland Empire Association of Records Managers and Administrators (ARMA) chapter, and is a member of the American Sand Association (ASA) Board of Directors. |
