CMCA 2023–2026 Strategic Plan

The Board of Directors has been working hard to shape the future of CMCA, and is proud to share the revised 2023-2026 Strategic Plan.

Objectives

In addition to providing leadership and management training opportunities, enhancing levels of service responsive to the growing demands within our organizations, fostering proactive programs to promote effective legislation, and promoting networking among members, the objectives of CMCA are to promote:

  • the interests of Municipal Clerks;
  • professional administration and education of Municipal Clerks’ offices;
  • uniform standards for administering Municipal Clerk duties;
  • improved standards of efficiency for Municipal Clerks;
  • better municipal government through increased cooperation with other municipal officials;
  • and legislation which supports the goals and objectives of the organization.

 

Goals under Leadership

  • Develop a leadership philosophy.
  • Define the roles and responsibility of the board.
  • Generate a system to ensure the leadership holds each other accountable for the completion of tasks. (revised 11/2/2023)
  • Review the current policies and procedures for revision.
  • Implement newly-designed institutes.
  • State of the Association Address to the membership.
  • Increase board knowledge of association finances to ensure the Board is exercising financial prudence.
  • Diversity-Equity-Inclusion and Cultural Competency Training (new 11-2-2023)

 

Goals under Collaboration

  • Provide quarterly updates on the progress of the board (New Law & Elections Seminar, CCMCA Annual Conference, social media, Official Word, etc.)
  • Matching mentees with their mentoring needs. Improvement of outreach to the association (membership surveys).
  • Create more face-to-face time with the board (networking events).
  • Provide Board of Director reporting during Board meetings.
  • Provide CMCA new members with a welcome email message.
  • Seek opportunities to network with other associations (e.g., Special District Conferences) (revised 11-3-2023)

 

Goals under Growth

  • Analyze current educational programs provided to the membership. (changed 11-3-2023)
  • Diversify training content and trainers. Get members more engaged by volunteering and training.
  • Create and keep a current 30-second promo video on the benefits of CMCA.
  • Create a member spotlight in the Official Word to better engage the membership.
  • Provide quality educational opportunities to membership.
  • Evaluate current software and provide recommendations if needed to ensure CMCA is up to date on the latest trends.
  • Annual review of professional development fees.
  • More frequent updates from the CMCA lobbyist.
  • Look at additional revenue streams for CMCA.
  • Increase membership by 20 percent by 2026. (new as of 11-3-2024)
